Directions
- Send me an e-mail message indicating 3 topics in
order of
preference. The earlier you do this the higher the chances of getting
your first choice.
- First draft: bring a hardcopy to class. It has to
be written in
RevTex format, and it has to be similar to a Physical Review Letters
article, including Abstract and references and not exceeding 4 pages in
length.
- Second draft: (and some
recommendations based on what I saw in the first one)
- Bring it to class on Thursday March 13 together with the marked copy of your
first draft (your grade will
suffer if the first draft is missing).
- Make sure that you understand all the material
that appears in your paper.
- The level should be appropriate for this class:
Physics graduate students. This means: not too simple, i.e., you are
supposed to apply the concepts and mathematical machinery presented in
this class but not too heavy on the quantum mechanical side.
- The article has to be in your own words. Do not
copy text from sources even if you provide the citation.
- Make a coherent story that flows smoothly. Have
an Introduction (stating what you are going to discuss and providing
some background), then present the main body may be divided in
subsections, and end with a Summary or Conclussions.
- Use spell check.
- Make sure that your references are cited in the
text and appear listed at the end in the order in which they are cited.
- I expect that only minor changes will be needed
after this iterations so excuses such as "I'm still doing my research"
will be no longer OK.
- I strongly suggest that after you see the
corrections in the first draft you talk with me to make sure that we
are in the same page regarding what I expect.
