Homework Set 11 - Due April 8

1.  A point charge q moves along the trajectory described by

                 r(t)=d [i cos(wt) cos (alpha t)+j sin(alpha t)]

where d, w and alpha are constants. If there is an electric dipole momentum p(t)=Re(p exp(-iw_0 t)),then the electric dipole radiated power angular distribution is given by

       a) What are the  frequencies of electric dipole radiation from this moving charge?

       b) For each frequency, find pwhich is to be used in the above power distribution formula.

       c) Find the power distribution for each of the frequencies found in part a).

 2.  Starting with eq. (9.16) and (9.17) obtain eqs. (9.18), (9.19) and (9.20).
